The mission of FERCAM Future LABS is to identify and to support technologically innovative ideas, which have been developed internally or externally from the own organization; externally we turn in particular to start-ups and young entrepreneurs. FERCAM Future LABS is a platform with customized programs, which goes from the development of the innovative idea until its realization and implementation. We support entrepreneurs at every stage of their journey.

We believe that great ideas are born from people working daily in the industry, as they are facing daily difficulties and are challenged every day. For this reason, this program aims to set up internal start-ups which are set up to pursue an innovation or an idea. Intrapreneurship must be about pursuing big ideas that can stand on their own. Even if the internal start-up will never be a standalone business.
Truckscreenia is a start-up founded in 2019 and is a manufacturing and software company with a focus on data and AI. Truckscreenia has developed a unique interactive display integrated in a device designed for the Digital Out-Of-Home (DOOH) industry. The device is affixed to the back of trucks for the highway environment, and of vans for urban areas (two different devices and sizes). The solution is designed to function as an innovative advertisement tool and is a hybrid appliance of online and offline advertising in an environment that to date is mainly serviced through analogue tools.
The product is composed of several innovative items, such as the electrophoretic display and a vehicle recognition camera. In addition, sensors allow geolocalization and the possibility of measuring the actual impressions of the single message displayed.

ITAE develops and promotes innovative energy technologies able to conjugate the deep knowledge on electrochemical, catalytic and adsorption processes with the ability to design materials, components, and energy systems. The energy technologies based on renewable sources play a central role in the novel energy system scenario, in which the distributed generation will be supported by actions towards the improvement of energy efficiency, also exploiting synergies with information and telecommunication technologies (ITC).
The novel ITAE research topics are part of this new framework, which includes current needs for sustainable development. Accordingly, “Energetic Sustainability” represents the common target of all the different research areas of the institute:
